All I OwnI want to write you a poem, so beautiful it would make Shakespeare look like an inconsiderate jerk. But I don’t have the talent. I hope these words, though simple, are enough:

A Late FallIt was a late fall that year we wandered across the meadow with the high grasses and the sheltering ring of knobby trees. The grass was golden and brittle, and the patches of bone dry dirt were woven into the earth. Tiny rodents scampered and frolicked around the meadow and scattered little paw prints across the paths. Leaves were clumped and piled around the bases of the skeletal trees, and the bark was slowly peeling away, stripping the trees of their natural and proper skins. The grass waved a disjointed hello, and the wind carried rustles and taps from the trees.

QuietHe was a solitary soul, young, of course, but lonesome. With his coveralls and loose shirt, he looked to be an orphan. Joe is back where he lives. I sent him off at four in the morning on Monday. Don't ever, EVER, EVER have a flight early in the morning. It really isn't fun. And I've learned that I'm a big, huge cry-baby.
Also, if you are trying to sleep so that you don't die and/or fall asleep on the four hour drive back to your house, someone will always wake you up. Period. Whether by phone or taking a shower, you will never get quite enough sleep to ensure your safety.

Honestly, I'm completely bummed. No boyfriend to annoy, no friends to hang out with, no fun to be had. I'm probably going to get a second job so I can save up money that much faster... Then, I will either be moving to a different state or out of my mother's house. I don't know which.

I now have to go buy some socks, because I apparently don't have any.

And, just so everyone knows, I love this time of year. The leaves are turning, the air is colder and the sun is still shining. Perfect!
